Blue Sky Cup: winning start for New Diamond, APF

Blue Sky Cup Volleyball Championships

New Diamond and Armed Police Force (APF) ladies have won their opening matches at the 10th Dhorpatan Blue Sky Cup volleyball championships.

Both New Diamond and APF won their matches in three straight sets and with a relative ease.

New Diamond defeated Ramechhap Chandeshwori 25-09, 25-13, 25-09, while APF defeated home side Dhorpatan Sports Club 25-09, 25-08, 25-04.

Prativa Malee and Saraswoti Chaudhary received the woman of the match awards for their contribution in New Diamond and APF’s win respectively.

Third match of the day saw, Ramechhap Chandeshwori win against Nepal Chhantyal Association, making up for their loss in the previous match against New Diamond.

Ramechhap Chandeswori recorded 25-11, 25-08, 25-14 in their win.

Nine teams are participating in this edition of the Blue Sky Cup volleyball championships.

The teams will play each other once in the first round of the championship. After the initial round of the matches, seven teams will go through to the next stage where they will face each other again. While two teams will be relegated.

The prize pot for the competitors:

  • Champion: Rs 2,55,000.
  • 1st runner up: Rs 1,25,000
  • 2nd runner up: Rs 65,000
  • 4th place: Rs 35,000
  • 5th place: Rs 25,000
  • 6th place: Rs 15,000
  • 7th place: Rs 10,000

In addition, four players are said to receive scooters in the following categories — player of the year, best player, player of the series and best talent.

Best spiker, setter, blocker, defence, server and quicker will also be awarded cash prizes of Rs 5, 000 each.
