The Armed Police Force or APF Club has clinched the 19th National Women’s Volleyball Tournament title after defeating Nepal Police Club.
The tournament, which was the major attraction of the 13th National Industrial Exhibition, concluded on Monday amid a tensely fought match in which APF won by 3-2 sets.
APF which lagged behind in the opening set 25-17 bounced back in the second and third sets 25-18 and 25-23. In the fourth set, the Police Club regained its hold to win the set 25-16 while pushing the match to a decider with 2 sets each won by the two teams. In the final set, APF thrashed Police Club 15-9 to win the title.
The match took a tense turn when Nepal Police’s Kamala Pun was shown a yellow card by the referee for violating the speech discipline.
APF Club has bagged a purse of Rs 51,000 including the trophy while the runner up Police Club won Rs 31,000. Madhyamanchal, which came third, won Rs 21,000.
In the tournament, AFP’s Saraswoti Chaudhary was declared the best player and given Rs 10,000 while the same team’s Binita Budhathoki won the title of best lifter.
Likewise, Nepal Police Club’s Ramila Tandukar won the best server title, Kopila Upreti the best blocker, Kamala Pun best defender and Madhyamanchal’s Praima Mali the best spiker. RSS
