The Ministry of Youth and Sports has today honoured nine athletes of different departments for their outstanding performances in 2071 BS.
At a programme organised by the Ministry on the occasion of the International Youth Day, Sompal Kami (cricket), Bimala Tamang (karate), Gyani Chunara (taekwondo), and Bikram Bahadur Rana and Keshari Chaudhary (athletics) were honoured with the ‘National Sports Talent Award’.
Also honoured on the occasion were Dibesh Shrestha (kickboxing), Binita Budhathoki (volleyball), and Sunil Chaudhary and Prativa Chaudhary (athletics).
Each sportsperson except Sunil and Prativa from athletics received Rs 100,000 while Sunil and Prativa got Rs 50,000 each.
Likewise, karate coach Sanju Maharjan and badminton coach Rajani Maiya Joshi were also honoured with Rs 50,000 each.
The Ministry also feted youth scientist Dr Rajeev Kumar Jha, culture expert Rajan Khatiwada, accomplished climber Susmita Maskey, women rights activist Gomawati Pun, Pradeep Pariyar from youth empowerment, a social campaigner Bhawesh Khanal, litterateur Dr Bindu Sharma and the Nepal Disabled Women Association with the ‘National Youth Talent Award’.
Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bamdev Gautam, Minister for Law, Justice and Constituent Assembly and Parliamentary Affairs and Peace and Reconstruction, Narahari Acharya, honoured them. RSS
