Times College bagged the title of the first Angel’s Heart U-18 Boys’ Basketball title after defeating the hosts, Angel’s Heart, in the final.
Just as in the girls’ game, these two had met in the group phase earlier where Times College quite easily proved themselves on top. And they went on to repeat the feat. Only difference, the hosts had a terrific start in the final.
The home team lead by 10 points in the first quarter (score: 21-11)….lot of it coming from three pointers. But come the second half…they weren’t as adventurous with the outside shots. And all doors were closed for their top shooters on the inside.
Angel’s Heart were held at 21 points for much of the second quarter, while a run of 9 points from Aakash Nakarmi brought Times College within a point of their opponents. And soon enough Times boys were on lead…going into half-time 3 points ahead.
Although the margin was miniscule, there was no sign of a Angel’s Heart coming back. Times College went on to build on their small margin in the remainder of the game to win the title. Hosts settle for runner-up place.
Aakash Nakarmi went on to contribute 22 individual points, highest in the match. And his overall performance in the tournament landed him the MVP award.
Angel’s Heart forwar/shooter, Nikesh Magar, received the highest scorer award.
Final score: Angel’s Heart 45-55 Times College (21-11, 08-21, 08-11, 08-12).
