South Siders Basketball Club has secured a year long sponsorship deal with Birat Medical College ahead of the upcoming men’s basketball league.
“The deal is worth 200,000 Nepali rupees”, Siders’ player, Wisdom Pandey, told Arko Network on the phone.
Pandey said, “Birat Medical College showed great interest in helping to motivate the youth in sport.”
However little the deal may by, this will serve as big boost for the club ahead of the upcoming men’s basketball league that starts February 17. This is the first time South Siders Basketball Club has attracted a major sponsor in the period (last six years) Arko Network has covered basketball.
“We decided to go with small amount for now”, Pandey told Arko Network. “Birat Medical College has said that they will observe for now and if they are happy there is a possibility for a better deal next year.”
Best thing about the deal is that, unlike many basketball team sponsors in the past, Birat Medical College has refrained from overtaking the team name. Which means Siders will play as Siders not Birat Medical College….new trend that has to be louded.
Siders is one of eight teams that will participate at the first ever home and away men’s basketball league “Kwik’s Basketball League”.
Siders’ major achievements include (among others) winning the NeBA National Championships back in 2016.
