Prime College ladies (Gorillas) earned another impressive victory to enter into the final of the women’s KCM Basketball Bash 2017.
Prime Gorillas completely dominated over the minnows Brooklyn College to book their place in the final.
The outside shooting prowess that the Gorillas have built lately made it for quite a show…their success rate from the outside shots coming closer to men if not more in this tournament.
Four of their starters — Srijana Giri, Sabita Khadka, Bisnu Magar and Yanzee Sherpa — all took turns in scoring one trey after another. Even Pratikchhya Pun came of the bench and added few more outside shots. While on the inside, Sony Waiba, looked made most of her shots as well as providing good defensive cover.
And most impressive of all was the amount of effort the Gorillas put in ….110%….although they could’ve won without.
Brooklyn College ladies tried to feed the ball to their centre, Pratikchhya Magar, on the low post early on. But since Prime College defense made sure she didn’t get clean shots, they were left to try and drive down the lane for lay-ups…which was dealt with just as easily resulting in many a turnovers.
Unfortunately, other than that Brooklyn didn’t have any other moves.
The match was done and dusted by half-time if not before with the margin standing at 29 points.
Prime Gorillas started easing off in the latter half of the match allowing Brooklyn to get a respectable scoreline.
Sony Waiba finished as the highest scorer with 15 points for the Gorillas…her third time in this tournament. Srijana and Bisnu were in the double digit scoreline which included three treys each to their name.
Final score: Prime Gorillas 57-28 Brooklyn (22-07, 18-04, 15-10, 02-07).
