KCM Basketball Bash 2017 kicked off today with Xavier Int’l College ladies starting their campaign with a win. Times College and Saipal Academy recorded victory in the men’s game.
KCM vs Xavier Int’l (Women’s)
Kathmandu College of Management (KCM), the part-timers, hosted Xavier Int’l who are fairly regulars in the college basketball circuit with a predictable result in the opening match of the KCM Basketball Bash 2017.
Unfortunately, KCM didn’t seem to have made much improvement since they played in the previous edition of this tournament. Needless to say they were completely dominated by Xavier Int’l who featured majority of the players who won the title last year with Saipal Academy.
KCM ladies couldn’t find their way on the inside and their outside shots proved sketchy. Add to that they gave away easy turnovers. Even some of the small players in the Xavier Int’l line-up were finding easy blocks… not to mention steals.
On the other hand Xavier Int’l had no problems in the scoring front with most of their shooters in good form.
Xavier Int’l ladies opened up 11 point lead in the first quarter and ended the first half 18 points in front. Although the hosts improved a little there was no sign of troubling the visitors. The difference in class was so obvious that it was safe to say that Xavier Int’l had this one in the bag by half-time.
Xavier Int’l went on to build further gap in the final quarter to win with a margin of 31 points.
Maya Rai finished the game as highest scorer with 16 points for Xavier Int’l followed by Shanti Shrestha who also got in the double digit scoreline.
Final score: KCM 22-53 Xavier Int’l (04-15, 08-15, 08-05, 02-18)
