Bishal Milan Kendra (BMK) defeated Public Youth Campus (PYC) on day 2 of the Hari Sharan Smriti Cup Veteran’s Basketball Tournament 2017.
BMK boasted the big man, Ajay Manandhar, who played for the Army side just a few days ago. And needless to say he made a good impact for BMK.
With a few big men on BMK line up, PYC men went for outside shots from early on in the first quarter. But they didn’t have much luck with it.
On the other side, Ajay had fairly easy time on the low post scoring 8 points in the first quarter. Manish added 5 points while Ashish KC punished PYC on fast breaks to open a margin of 13 points.
Fitness was an issue for both sides as was for the two teams in the previous fixture yesterday. And as substitutes started making their way in things changed a bit with PYC fairing better of the two in the second quarter.
PYC outscored BMK but only just…not enough to turn the tide. And what little ground they had gained was lost after the half-time break. Sadly, PYC never looked like they had a comeback in them as BMK veteran’s went on to win.
Ajay and Ashish were both on double digit scoreline for BMK with 15 and 13 points respectively.
Sanjay Prajapati scored 17 points for PYC, but the rest of the squad couldn’t chip in as much to make the difference.
Final score: PYC 47-66 BMK (08-21, 18-14, 07-18, 14-13).
PYC Lineup: Sanjay Prajapati, Ashish Maharjan, Santosh Tamrakar, Anil Maharjan, Bikash Shahi, Rujil Tuladhar, Niraj Raj Manandhar, Roshan Shrestha, Saroj Manandhar and Bibek Maharjan. (Couple of players missing from the team photo.)
BMK Lineup: Niranjan Satyal, Sanoj, Pranish Jung Shah, Bishow Ram, Rabin Awale, Chetan Gurung, Ashish KC, Kedar, Anup Manandhar, Manish and Ajay Manandhar.
