Goldengate College Club basketball team has decided to promote one of the youth products, Kabindra Pradhan, to their senior men’s team.
The decision comes after two of their influencial players, Ayush Singh and Siddhartha Maharjan moved to Tribhuvan Army Club which has left a huge void as they prepare for the upcoming men’s national league.
Kabindra Pradhan came through the ranks at Goldengate Int’l College 10+2 (secondary education) boys’ basketball team. He played along side, Nepal U-18 internationals Khunkhen Thing, Jasang Sunuwar and Saugat Singh during his secondary education at Goldengate Int’l College. He was member of the team that won the NCell Cup in 2015.
He also had a short stint with the senior team at the KCM Bash 2017 where Goldengate won the final. But this time round he will be in the senior team for the long haul. Exact details of the deal is not released.
It is a great opportunity for the youngster, but whether or not he can fill the void left by the exit of Ayush and Siddhartha is another matter.
When asked about the move, Goldengate head coach Bipin Kapali said, “instead of going after big name players to replace the two players we lost, we thought about bringing in young talents.”
