Bangladesh Navy secured their sixth straight victory after defeating South Siders on day 7 of the BMK Cup 2017 men’s basketball tournament.
Bangladesh Navy had already proven they were far better than Siders when these two met last time. And the fact that Siders played without one of their most experienced player, Subrat Rajopadhyaya; which made it even more easy for the league leaders.
Navy men were 27-11 up at the end of the first quarter and widened the margin more by the half time to lead by 25 points.
Siders, spurred on by quick four treys from Ashish Singh and that Navy had eased off, started to close the gap in the third quarter though. Towards the end of the match the gap was less than 10 points.
However, it wasn’t so much a comeback from the Siders as the Navy men had plenty in them to thwart any attempt; but rather a means for finishing the game with a respectable margin.
Mithun Kumar and Shamsuzzaman were the highest scorers in the match with 34 points each for Navy team.
Final score: Siders 81-89 Navy (11-27, 16-25, 18-13, 35-24).
In the early fixture of the day, Tribhuvan Army Club earned an easy win (87-79) against the home side BMK to earn their fifth win.
