BMK basketball club has extended head coach Abhisekh KC’s deal after their recent cup win.
Abhisekh KC was brought in about a month a go after previous coach Raju Acharya parted company due to his busy schedule. Since then, under KC’s reign, the BMK basketball team has gone on to bring home a winner’s trophy from Ghandruk.
BMK sports co-ordinator, Pranish Jung Shah said that he was impressed with his work at the club. “So I decided to offer him a long term role as a head coach”, Shah said.
The big seat at BMK is KC’s first coaching job. Prior to joining BMK, KC had taken up management roles at Easter Warriors, a Nepali basketball team based in Australia.
He was one of the founders of the Eastern Warriors Club. He said that he also played at the club in the first year before taking up management role.
KC has played for Mahabir Club and for college teams in India during his basketball playing days.
When asked about the nature of new deal, KC said, “I’m obviously not doing this for money.”
“I grew up here (Bishal Nagar), I love this place, I love the club and I love basketball. So I want to contribute something to the game and community.”
He said that he has a long term vision for the club and will try to see it through.
Meanwhile, BMK sports co-ordinator, Pranish Jung Shah, has said that BMK has plans to upgrade the venue. “We will install new backboards and new surface too…possibly rubber paint over the old surface.”
