Athletes feted with Gajaraj Award

Gajaraj Sportsman Award

Former marathon runner, Hari Bahadur Rokaya, was honoured with the Gajaraj Memorial Ideal Sportsman Award today.

The award set up by the Gajaraj Joshi Foundation in memory of late Gajaraj Joshi carries a purse of Rs 25,000 along with a trophy. Gajaraj Joshi was the first ever Nepali to participate at international event back in 1951 Asian Games.

The awards ceremony was hosted by the Nepal National and International Athletes Association.

Various athletes from several disciplines that took part at the South Asian Games 2016 were also feted on the occasion. The were all awarded cash prize of Rs 10,000. The athletes were recommended for the honour by respective national sports associations.
