The 12th National Industrial Exhibition kicked off at Bhrikutimandap in the capital city Kathmandu today.

Organised by Leather Footwear and Goods Manufactures’ Association of Nepal and Nepal Cloth Merchant Tailoring Association, the seven-day expo aims at promoting home-made leather products.

Leather footwear and other leather products are put on display in the expo which was inaugurated by Industry Minister Som Prasad Pandey today.

Stressing on the need to decrease the import of leather products by increasing production of these materials at home, he pointed out the need to promote home-made leather products at international market as well.

He also said that the Industry Ministry would manage to provide training on the production of leather products to produce skilled manpower at home.

Likewise, Vice Chairman at the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Dinesh Shrestha expressed his belief that the government would implement suggestions given by FNCCI to uplift industries at a time when many industries are going through hardships due to prolonged agitations in the Tarai and Indian unofficial blockade.
