The hearing of the case of DIG Nawaraj Silwal has been postponed. The case was in the hearing schedule of the Supreme Court for today.
The hearing was scheduled to take place by a seven-member joint bench of justices Cholendra Shamsher Rana, Devendra Gopal Shrestha, Jagdeesh Sharma Poudel, Deepak Kumar Karki, Kedar Prasad Chalise, Sapana Pradhan Malla and Tej Bahadur KC.
According to Supreme Court spokesperson Mahendra Upadhyay, the hearing was postponed citing DIG Silwal and Justice Shrestha were relatives.
Silwal had registered a case at the Supreme Court against the Council of Ministers over the issue of the appointment of Inspector General of Nepal Police.
Earlier, the hearing into the case was scheduled for May 2 but it could not take place as it was affected by an impeachment motion filed on April 30 against the Chief Justice in the Legislature-Parliament. RSS
