Election official, Santosh Giri, was found hanging from a noose made up of a shawl at a hotel this morning.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Phanindra Prasai, election official Giri deputed for the local polls in Kalika Village Council, was found hanging from the noose at a guest house.
Giri is still unconscious although his pulse is beating at a regular rate.
A friend who was staying with Giri at the Kalika Guest House owned by District Coordination Committee heard some noise coming from a passageway at 4:15 am this morning and immediately sought the support of the locals to free the election official from the tightening noose.
He was then rushed to the Nuwakot Hospital for treatment but he remained unconscious. Giri was later referred to Kathmandu. He was brought to the capital on a helicopter.
A new election official has already been deputed to Kalika Village Council to continue with the candidate registration procedure today, according to Chief Election Official’s Office, Rasuwa.
Deputy Attorney Giri, who is working with the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons, arrived in Rasuwa last week to take up the job of an election official. RSS
