Do you have half a million dollars lying around? then the SandRacer 500GT, a limited edition supercar or rather a off-road supercar, a desert supercar, could be yours!
Dubai based supercar manufacturer, Zarooq Motors, has just announced the start of production of the luxury SandRacer after thorough testing and numerous mechanical and design improvements.
In addition to making improvements on the design and functionality of the car, the company is also said to have spent 18 months tweaking it to give it an aesthetic as well as an aggressive look.
SandRacer design was initially unveiled at the Abu Dhabi F1 GP in December 2015.
Weighing in at 1,200 kgs, the SandRacer GT 500 delivers 525hp, 660Nm from a tuned 6.2 litre V8. And two suspension height settings (road and sand), a unique lightweight racing chassis with a built-in roll cage designed by Campos Racing Grand Prix engineers, makes it perfect all situations on the racetracks, on a city road or out on rough terrain.
The first production model SandRacer, is a 2-seater, rear-wheel drive, mid-engine supercar. The body, designed by a hypercar designer, is made in Belgium — using only carbon fibre.
Other features include:
- Improved space frame racing chassis
- Longitudinal racing-grade 5-speed sequential gearbox drivetrain from Weddle industries, to withstand the most demanding conditions.
- Dakar-grade Intrax dampers that allows maximum suspension travel of 45cm.
“We are very excited to see our supercar perform on roads as on sand, following our initial vision,” said Bruno Laffite, one of Zarooq Motors’ founders.
“You can take them on a week-end track day or for a luxurious commute in the city but also on any off-road terrain, even the toughest dunes of the Arabian Desert where they were born,” says Mohammed Al Qadi, Zarooq Motors’ executive.
Top Gear has described it as a “Cross between a BMW X6, Range Rover Evoque and a Dakar racer”, while the Art of Gears said, “The Sandracer is an Off-Road Lamborghini of Arabia.”
In the interior features luxury hand-stitched leather made by Mansory in Germany. And the fittings are of a top range supercar that includes:
- Digital dashboard
- Climate control
- CarPlay compatible infotainment
- Power windows
- Bespoke Mansory carbon fibre seats and steering wheel
With a starting price of $450,000, the first limited-edition series of 35 supercars are clearly aimed at an exclusive clientele.
“The first clients, both in the GCC and Europe, are mostly VIPs and car collectors, that’s why we also offer bespoke options and concierge services,” said Laetitia Laffite, in charge of exclusive partnerships.
The first of the orders are said to be delivered by Q4 this year.
