Sushil Gurung, a Nepal men’s basketball international and Nepal women’s U-16 coach was known in his prime as one of Nepal’s top shooters.

Basketball Career

Sushil Gurung was one of top quality basketball talents produced at the Galaxy Public School. Other big names produced from Galaxy Public School under coach Harish Maharjan, include Nepal men’s basketball national team captain, Sadhish Pradhan and Nepal internationals, Binod Shrestha and Manoj Sherchan.

Gurung received his fundamental basketball education from then coach at Galaxy Public School, Harish Maharjan.

He joined Gyanodaya School in 2001 for his 10+2 education where he continued to take up basketball. Following his 10+2 education he joined Prime College for his bachelor’s degree and played for the college team from 2004 to 2007. After that he joined Goldengate Int’l College and has been there so far.

Coaching career

Sushil Gurung started life as a coach at the Kathmandu Newcastle School as a volunteer coach. In 2010 he got the coaching role at Goldengate International College where played at the time. He continues to play for the Goldengate senior team and coaches 10+2 college team. He also coaches part-time after school at Triyog School

In 2017 he landed job with the Nepal Women’s U-16 as an assistant coach.


He made it to the national team squad in 2007 and has represented Nepal at international level in numerous occasions since.

His recent achievement includes winning the NSC National championships with the central region team. He has won many titles with Goldengate International College.
